Peer-Powered Sessions in Singapore, London and San Francisco Bay Area to Explore Criticality of Talent, Technology and Transformation in Advancing CMO Agenda
SAN JOSE, Calif. (January 15, 2015)—The Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) Council has announced that it will be staging three regional CMO Summit (www.cmosummit.org) events in 2015, all focused on reshaping the role of the CMO in the C-suite worldwide.
The CMO Council will use the interactive retreats to help its 8,000+ members in 110 countries engage in peer-to-peer knowledge sharing that will elevate both the title and territory of the strategic marketing function. Collectively, CMO Council members have responsibility for nearly $500 billion in aggregated annual marketing spend.
Hosted in Singapore, London and the San Francisco Bay Area, the two-day events mark the return of the successful CMO Summits, originally launched as the first global gatherings of senior marketing leaders in 2000. The dates and venues of the CMO Council Summit (@CMO_Summit) events are listed below:
The theme and focus for the CMO Summits—“CMO RISING: RESHAPING THE ROLE”—will focus on the intersection of talent, technology and transformation currently impacting the title and territory in the CMO remit. Surrounded by title inflation in the C-suite—including chiefs of revenue, digital, data, customer experience, relationships, insights and innovation—today’s CMO is looking to managing an increasingly complex landscape with multiplying turfs and subdivisions of responsibility.
“Chief marketing officers are being challenged to fortify their positions, expand authority and assert ownership of critical leadership roles in their organizations,” stated Donovan Neale-May, Executive Director of the CMO Council. “A true CMO must be the CEO-in-waiting, groomed in all aspects of the business and the value-setter for the organization. Many aspire, but few make it to the corner office. But as the CMO rises to the realities and requirements of the new mandate of the CMO, this will change.”
The three regional convocations will feature keynotes, dynamic panels and the CMO Summit’s trademark peer-powered invention sessions and work groups that will tackle key issues and challenges facing marketing leaders today, including defining the very role and core alignments that marketers must manage in order to achieve success in the C-suite.
Attendee registration opens on March 2, 2015, for CMO Council members, and members of the general marketing community can request invites starting April 20, 2015. An open call for speakers will also be available starting on March 2 via the CMO Summit website at www.cmosummit.org.
The CMO Council’s CMO Summit is the premier networking and thought leadership event in marketing and the official peer-to-peer networking event for the CMO Council (www.cmocouncil.org), an organization of more than 8,000 global marketers who control nearly $500 billion in combined annual marketing spend. Delegates from across both the B2B and B2C market sectors will be invited to attend this elite retreat to engage with peers and tap into this global network of insight, access and influence.
