Ian has spent much of his career laying the groundwork for Asia’s successful convergence of digital entertainment and technology through his various assignments within the region. With an intimate knowledge of the Asia Pacific consumer landscape and a strong track record marketing consumerware, Ian brings this expertise and experience to bear as he lead his team to reach out, engage and connect with Dell’s customers. Before joining Dell, in his role as Corporate Vice President and General Manager for Motorola Mobile Devices Asia Pacific & Japan, he led the improvement of Motorola’s sales and financial performance for the region, while spearheading its business strategy and product management for end-to-end solutions. Ian’s earlier career highlights include the setting up of Microsoft’s Home and Entertainment Division’s regional headquarters in Hong Kong in 2002. As the Brand & Channel Director for in the Asia-Pacific region, his portfolio grew to include formulating the group’s strategy and organization design, and for recruiting a regional team to execute that strategy. In addition, he executed on a plan that would see Microsoft building a library of localized content and the Xbox Live online gaming service, rolling out into four markets and establishing a foundation for Microsoft’s growing global move into online games. Prior to Microsoft, Ian was the Marketing and Channel Director for Apple in Asia Pacific, where he helped build the company’s brand in the region following Steve Jobs’ return to Apple. Ian managed the company’s advertising, marketing (online, direct, buzz and retail), collateral, and packaging in each of the region’s markets. Ian received his undergraduate Bsc in Applied Science and Computer Studies in the United Kingdom and earned his MBA in Strategy and Finance from the University of Chicago's Graduate School of Business in the US.
