Rakesh Bamzai currently serves as President, India, Emerging Asia & Access Markets, Commercial Expansion & Growth Market for Viatris. Mr. Rakesh Bamzai has more than 20 years of experience in Indian and global biopharmaceutical industry. At Mylan, Rakesh was responsible for its ARV portfolio, Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API) business and generic and specialty pharmaceutical business in India and emerging markets. He was very passionate about driving Mylan's vision of setting new standards in health care and providing access to high quality medicine to 7 billion people across the globe. Prior to joining Mylan, he was President of Marketing at Biocon, where he played a key role in building the company’s global biopharmaceutical business. He had overall responsibility for APIs, complex molecules, biologics and branded formulations. Over the years, he also spearheaded many strategic partnerships that enabled the organization to gain wider global access and greater market penetration for its biopharmaceuticals business. Rakesh also led Biocon's foray into branded formulations and his team built many successful brands across therapies in India and Gulf Cooperation Council states. As part of the key management team of Biocon, he played an active role in strategic business decisions at corporate level. A Food and Fermentation technologist from the University Institute of Chemical Technology in Mumbai, Rakesh also has a Post-Graduate degree in Management from the Narsi Monjee Institute of Management Studies (Mumbai). He is an exemplary recipient of the 'Marketing Professional of the Year-2004' award accorded by Forbes at the India Brand Summit. In April 2008, Mr Bamzai was selected to be on the panel at the Harvard Business School to represent India at "India Conference 2008". On July 31st, 2009 he received "Pride of the Industry," which was given to him by the Pride of the Industry Group. He was also awarded the "Best CMO of the year" at the Asia Brand congress.
