Tarek Abdalla serves as Regional Head of Marketing for Google responsible for leading the function in the rapidly growing Middle East and North Africa region. He joined Google in 2012 with a mandate to drive adoption and penetration of Google’s consumer and business products as well as drive the Google brand across the region. His mission is to enable users and businesses to make the most of the web. Tarek leads the marketing team to develop strategy and deployment plans across all consumer products such as YouTube, Chrome, Search, Maps, StreetView and Mobile as well as advertiser and publisher solutions such as AdWords and AdSense. Tarek has had a distinguished 15-­year career in brand marketing, media management and strategy consulting in North America, the Middle East and Emerging Markets in companies such as Mars Incorporated and Booz & Company. He has led multi-­cultural and cross-functional teams across all these geographies and served on global brand boards and senior leadership teams. His teams’ work has been recognized at top global and regional advertising and marketing awards. Tarek holds an MBA from Sheffield Business School, a Post-­Graduate Diploma from the International Advertising Association as well as a Bachelors Degree from the American University in Cairo. He has lived in 9 countries and speaks English and Arabic fluently in addition to Italian.
