How Digital Marketing is Impacting the Consumer Decision Journey and Enabling Competitive Advantage.
As part of the CMO Council’s ongoing thought leadership around digital marketing and consumer insights, we have invited David Edelman, Partner at McKinsey & Company, and leader of their digital marketing strategy practice, to lead a discussion on “Building Advantage Through Digital Marketing”.
David will walk through the four keys to successful digital transformation and offer his perspective on how online channels are transforming the way marketers are addressing new opportunities - both in the B2B and B2C world. He will offer advice on some of the most successful tactics that marketers are using to engage customers, and the capabilities that CMOs must develop to scale their efforts in a cost-effective manner.
David will also speak to McKinsey’s latest research on the consumer decision journey. He will offer advice to CMOs on how to adapt your marketing strategies in response to consumers’ new ways of researching and buying your products. According to McKinsey, consumers are rapidly moving outside the traditional purchasing funnel and if your marketing hasn’t changed in response, it should.

Lofty insights help us to see where we're headed a few years down the road. But between now and then, as sales go, so goes the company. What are today’s best-of-breed sales techniques and platforms, and how are they evolving to accommodate new market realities? How has the Discovery Educator Network (DEN) become the largest product user/advocacy group among educators? A recent study for top marketing officers advises that digital marketing is driving a major transformation in global marketing organizations. In this new world, agencies are taking a back seat as clients build new internal skills, deploy marketing performance platforms, and improve campaign effectiveness and outcomes. Hear these issues translated into useful “take-aways” by folks living them daily and leading the changes.
